  • Registration closes 2 weeks prior to each live training--no exceptions!

POLICIES and PROCEDURES

  1. First, you must join the People’s Organization of Community Acupuncture (POCA) at the AAT Trainee Level (https://pocacoop.com/join/aat-training/) . Do not register for a training until you have joined POCA; you will need your POCA username to register for training. The training manual and other materials can be accessed after you join POCA.

  2. Obtain or use a personal Gmail account to register and access the Google Classroom materials for the training.  If you do not already have a personal Gmail account, please obtain one here prior to registering for the course so you will not experience a delay in accessing the classroom materials.  [Note that Gmail accounts (such as business accounts through Google) that do not end in "gmail.com" DO NOT WORK (yes, they should but they don't).]

  3. Register for the UtahAcudetox training using YOUR GMAIL address ONLY; otherwise we will cancel your registration and you will need to re-register.

  4. We use Google Classroom to distribute all materials for the training. You will receive a link to the Google Classroom modules after you register and pay for the training.

  5. If you have trouble accessing the Google Classroom, let us know immediately so we can troubleshoot. We use the Google Classroom in Zoom and other meetings, for announcements and sharing documents.  You will not be prepared for the training if you cannot access or do not understand the Google Classroom.

  6. You must complete ~20 hours of Google Classroom modules (reading, videos, etc.) before the live training, so plan accordingly.  We monitor your progress remotely and expect you to complete all online assignments.

  7. Asynchronous (on your own) pre-work, mandatory Zoom sessions, Google classroom materials, 2 days of in-classroom training (8-5), clinical practice, and homework are necessary to complete the full training and practice hours and to be eligible for a certificate as an Auricular Acu-Technician (AAT) through POCA.

  8. Registration closes 2 weeks prior to each live training to allow time to complete the required prework.

  9. The training cost will be $410 plus processing fees: $360 for the training at the payment link, plus $50 for required POCA membership at the AAT Trainee Level.

  10. You are not officially registered for this course until you have joined POCA at the AAT level and we have received full payment for the UtahAcudetox course.

  11. We understand that things happen but if you can’t attend after registering, we will give you credit for a future training. No refunds are issued.

  12. From a Utah Department of Health and Human Services grant awarded for 2025-2027, eligible Utah licensees who complete training from August 2025-September 2027 will be reimbursed for $400 after completing all training requirements (including completing all the Google classroom work!!), obtaining an AAT certificate from POCA, and submitting the certificate to Utah DOPL and the trainers.  Trainees will get more information about this at their training.

More training details: This training offers eligible health and mental health professionals working within their current scope of practice to become competent in the provision of the 5-Needle Protocol (5-NP) ear acupuncture or Acudetox.   Utah DOPL-licensed acupuncturists, physicians, chiropractors, naturopathic physicians, nurses, physician assistants, psychologists, social workers, marriage and family therapists, substance use disorder counselors, and clinical mental health counselors are eligible to provide the 5-NP ear acupuncture under Utah HB 0195-2022.

NOTE: Licensed physical therapists and licensed massage therapists do not qualify for the training or certificate process in Utah at this time (LMFT or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists DO qualify).  Please note that past licensees without a current, active, eligible healthcare license and students who are not yet fully licensed also do not qualify to register for the training.  If you are a student close to finishing training and being eligible for licensure, email us to see if DOPL will give us permission for you to train early.

For more information see: https://www.utahacudetox.com/process-for-hcps

If you can't make one of our trainings, others are available through POCA or NADA (but reimbursement for Utah licensees is not given for these trainings).
